and now that january is crawling through the front door sobering us up for 2014, let's get started! personally, i'm chompin' at the bit. bring it on!
today. an anomaly. an incongruous bit of magic (the kind i get out of bed for). yes, i love, LOVE marfa, texas. and yes i love, LOVE bathroom makeovers. but how in january, of all months, did both of these subjects get rolled into one??
bingo! tile envy fantasy post!!
well..recent clé client- gabrielle - just sent a fun note about her new blog- home sweet adobe. you've got to check it out!
seems gabrielle and her darlin' man just high-tailed it from san fran to marfa, TX. as artists with a particular talent for uber-cowboy-cool renovations, that's just the beginning of their home makeover fairy tale.
i needed more info! so i did a quick google and discovered that this ain't their first rodeo. maybe slightly more wild - but not their first. the first took place in my neck of the woods -san francisco, and was featured in a yum-photo post on refinery 29 (here).

their success turned a mission terrace renovation into the perfect rustic-chic bungalow with just the right dose of comfort mixed with cool. it's a must-see! every room, finished to perfection.
so now my imagination swirls considering how their unique skill sets will convert their new marfa digs. it's a community that requires the right moves. a wrong turn and anything not befitting a boot-spur town filled with revered modern art legends and tumbleweeds could get tricky.(click for previous tile envy marfa mention)
from where i sit, they're hitting it out of the ballpark already. first, they've changed the bath from cubby to spacious. then, and most importantly, they've ordered clé white zellige for the walls. the floors come alive with clé moroccan-inspired cement tiles in los feliz pattern. add a bit of reclaimed wood in all the right places and shine up the old claw tub- and you're starting to get the picture. it's all good, good, good in the neighborhood! just to prove it - check out gabrielle's sketch:
now, my kids will tell you i'm never right about much. however, mark my words, this ongoing conversion in marfa is going to be a delicious pursuit of space conversion. a delight to follow along at homesweetadobe.com as these careful and thoughtful space reformers spin magic out of their frank, stoic, yet, pure gold slice of the US of A. welcome home gabrielle and beau!
