A Single Man- His and Hers

10 November 2010

What's more gorgeous than Julianne Moore in A Single Man? Colin Firth, of course.

But upon second thought- was it the cinematography, wardrobe, or that immaculate vintage mercedes benz?

And all of the above are further eclipsed by the wonderfully juxtaposed "his and hers" houses that are as prominently present film characters as are Colin and Julianne. So today, I wanted to revisit those enviable spaces and share them here with all of you.

When I first heard that Tom Ford, upon his retirement from Gucci Group, was contemplating making movies I have to admit that I didn't have a lot of confidence he could/would pull it off. I wonder about that. Anyway- guess he showed me! A Single Man was easily one of my favorite movies from last year. A slow langourous browse through a man's painful grief- every scene was like turning big waxy pages from a giant on-screen fashion editorial. I could easily have sat through a second and a third viewing.

Naturally, all the colors in the film now happen to be in Tilevera's latest collection of modern printed tiles- Stone+Glass+Wood.

Murky celadons and teals, muted plums and lavenders, chocolates mixed with dark flannels in damasks, batik's and Moroccan classics- all reconfirmed by the set and wardrobe design in Ford's haunting movie.
