These tiles made from recycled skateboards are some of my favorite of all time.
I love the haphazardness of the patterns, the colors playing off of each other, the surprises that linger on each surface. Using the colorful scraps from broken skateboard decks, Rich Moorhead of Art of Board has redefined sustainability.
"The skaters help create the art too", Moorhead says. "Every scratch, scrape and gouge makes each tile unique and tells a story".
Art of Board has given skaters and skateboard shops a good reason to start recycling. These tiles, coasters and mirrors are giving a second life to these decks and creating a conversation point, to boot. As Rich says, "we can transcend a rider's ennvironmental footprint, enhance social consciousness and achieve high design."
