last week we started a great conversation with christine chang hanway, UK editor for remodelista. how lucky can a gal be? keeping tabs on the latest and greatest of UK design for design blog extraordinaire, remodelista?? it's a twinkly crown that christine sports with great style.
in this week's segment, we sit down with christine to discover her top design passions:
q. i love elle décor’s designer segment of things their celeb designers can’t live without. would you be so kind to share your own?
a1. Berry Colander from Rachel Dormer -
a2. Tracey Neuls shoes
a3. Vietnamese Rush Bags -
a4. Le Savon d'Alep Royal Soap -
a5. My Ercol Chairs -
a6. Vintage Rolex watch from the 1970’s – My husband gave me a self-winding small face man’s watch to remind me of my father and the watch he wore.
a7. Ted Meuhling earrings; present from Remodelista founding editor Julie Carlson. We all wear them and have been wearing them long before we met each other.
a8. Macbook Air/iPhone – I am pretty much a technophobe, but I would be lost without these two items, which enable me to work and organize my life on the go.
a9. Water colors - I started to watercolor in architecture school as a way to present my work and have never stopped as I love the way the softness and transparency of the medium is so evocative. I wish I had more time to devote to it.
a10. Stump tea pot – My fail safe go to tea pot which I use daily.
and last but not least!
q. naturally, i must end this segment with one of my own things i can't live without – tile. remodelista has done a great job showcasing tiles from around the world. what have been some of your favorite tiles and why?
a. I am a big fan of encaustic tiles because I like the way the color is integral to the tile and not an applied glaze. I am drawn to the soft muted texture of the colors even when the colors are highly contrasted. I have been admiring Claesson Koivisto Rune’s Moroccan inspired ones for some time now. The custom color service you offer at Cle is beyond fantastic.
