eva zeisel at home...

13 February 2012

in 1946, ray and charles eames were busy creating emblematic works for arts & architecture's famous case study program. fellow designer, russell wright, was spinning his iconic aluminum craftwork and ceramic tableware while eva zeisel was being celebrated at the museum of modern art in it's first-ever show devoted entirely to a female designer.

the works that were featured: dinnerware appropriately named - museum.

besides gracing us with her eloquent, if not fundamental, presence for 105 years- she continued working through to her passing last December. eva's designs are as beautiful and graceful as they are useful. and her endeavor to design beautiful products that would be created through mass production insured that any of us could enjoy the benefits of her wares. she was, after all, an industrial designer. her works are still in production today and continue to add functional elegance to our everyday lives.

today, at tile envy- eva at home and with her work...
