i've been looking forward to today for a very, very long time! the launch of the new clé line of tiles from the world traveler and supremely sublime- peggy wong.
we have been a fan of peggy's for a while, enjoying her GORGEOUS blog and instagram feed, was just the start of our design & photography crush. a sovereign of world-class design with a career spanning the greatest brands, if you haven't discovered peggy's ethereal and breezy style, you've been missing out! her work is utter perfection. from her graphic and product designs to her exquisite photography, how she does it with such ease- is beyond me.
i call it her "artistic aperture"- or her ability to, in a flash, zero in on THE shot, every detail realized. some photographers are genius at putting together a photo- props, staging, styling. i think peggy's genius is what she edits from a shot. leaving us with a glance at a memory, a glimpse of a dream.
i had been trying to find a photographer who's collection of works we could transform into a line of high art tiles- and the fit seemed perfect. so now fast forward to today's launch of peggy's new series for clé - pw.travelogue, collection one: urban. every stunning black & white photo of peggy's urban vignettes is hand lithographed onto a pristinely serene piece of luminously white thassos marble...
since it's december, how perfect to be introducing this newest collection of clé tiles. all month is "white december" at tile envy - my celebration of wintery whites (that we love year 'round!). so there's that. BUT...how absolutely priceless to also have The New York Times feature them as well for their own holiday mentions (here)!
thank you to the New York Times! i hope you get a chance to see the article as well as all of the great items featured in Julie Lasky's soulful holiday gift guide. peggy's works are straight from the soul of a great photographer with a wanderlust for the near and the far. and welcome, now, to peggy's world via pw.travelogue for clé!
