Last week, we had a visit through the "his and hers" sentiments of Tom Ford's breathtakingly tailored - A Single Man. I heard from a ton of you regarding this post- thanks for the comments and emails.
This week, we're taking a peak at Luca Guadagnino's Io Sono l'Amore (I Am Love) another haunting tale of love and loss (two of my favorite themes) as we continue to explore films whose architectural settings are as much characters within the story as they are revealing of the main characters.
And much like Ford's film, Guadagnino's story is told through the other-wordly beauty of the movie's cast along with the promise of a drool-worthy wardrobe- this time courtesy of Fendi and Jil Sanders.
So if we get ourselves started with the star and the fashion- it's safe to say that leading us through the drama is one of my current fashion icons- Tilda Swinton. All her willowy androgyny poured into the most uber fashion elegance- she's often shunned by the typical red carpet meringue-lovers- thank goodness!!
I'm equally as wowed by her incredible performances. In I Am Love Swinton portrays the perfectly mannered and perfectly groomed matriarch of an industrialist Italian family. But Swinton is at her best when cracking the perfect shells of her characters. Her performance in this movie is not to be missed.
Also not to be missed, is the provocative stature of the family villa. Historic and bountifully filled with luxurious and eccentric surfaces- the setting takes place in the renowned, Milanese - Villa Necchi Campiglio. This grand Italian Rationalist masterpiece identifies the families cultural and financial status-

I hope I've enticed all of you to find a copy of this film. The story will take your breath even more than the filmmaking.
