November- House of the Month

23 November 2010

I'm always falling in love with new houses. Though partial to modern sculptural spaces- ex. Tadao Ando - I'm open to any artful dwelling. Thought all of you might enjoying seeing my latest house crushes- so I'm starting a new monthly tradition beginning this Thanksgiving month- Tile Envy's House of the Month.

I caught this one on freshome.com. Just the fact that it resides on San Juan Archipeligo was certainly arresting enough. But The Pierre (french for stone) was also commissioned from favorite architects Olson Kundig as a kind of bunker formed in and around a natural outcropping of gigantic boulders. That, and the combination of steel and concrete that form most of the structure, and you've got a home for which any lucky resident should be giving thanks!
