For me, Philip Johnson's name, alone, is enough to conjure images of my favorite thing made of glass- his Glass House. And if you've been vacationing in OUTER SPACE, you may not have noticed that during the last 10 years when it seemed like nearly everyone was building Tuscan Farmhouses- the steel/wood/glass modernist style was quietly moving past the downtown loft refurbishments into urban -and- suburban neighborhoods. Just ask those folks at Dwell.
Here's a look at the house that started it all-

Johnson's Glass House will always be my go-to fantasy house. A way to be in nature with the benefit of a sofa. I could go on and on about it but instead will be posting ALMOST daily with quick peaks at many of the offspring of the Glass House's inspiration. So I hope you'll keep checking back this month to take a look at a collection of other homes made of glass.
In the meantime- what famous landmark would be your architectural haven?
(and for you real fans- click here for a post from David Byrne's blog regarding his visit to the house)
