pushing the boundaries- the anthropologist

08 March 2012

we have been working, working, working to get our eboutique - clé - off the ground. essentially an amalgamation of everything i have loved sharing at tile envy, cultivating the vision for clé can be a bit overwhelming.

but with each approaching day, we get more excited with our clé site and the tiles we will be sharing as they unfold right before our very eyes. there have certainly been a few stumbles and set-backs, but the artists we are working with (exceptional!) and the concept of how we will share this work- for both viewing and purchasing (not your typical tile experience!), will come with a continuing promise of surprises and improvements. and since the idea of clé has been to push the boundaries of how we create, view, and use tiles, I thought this month would be fun to see how some of the newest emerging visual artists are doing just that.

the first time i encountered anthropologie i would not have predicted that 20 years later they would string across the u.s., a standard in shopping malls- albeit upscale malls- but you get my drift. i think it's clear that our world is on the move passing from fear of individuality, to a growing embrace of the powers of one.

so it's safe to say that we all know anthropologie by now. you may even watch -man shops globe - with keith johnson. but have any of you clicked onto the anthropologist link that lurks quite stealthily at the base of the anthropologie site?? you will find a collection of some of today's most intriguing works from visual poets of all realms (mostly spiritual)

boundary pushers every one of 'em...

changing our view of ourselves - isn't that what art's all about? i've been so inspired discovering the works of these visual magicians. i hope you'll join in this month's celebration of their work as we make march the month to celebrate pushing the boundaries. here's to hoping all of you will join us and clé on that unfolding journey...just around the corner!
