2011 Color Forecast
Pink: By now, all of you have heard that Pantone's color of the year is Honeysuckle Pink. It's not, let's say- you're average pink. In fact, the Pantone people claim that it's a more optimistic pink. I really like it when experts grant colors human characteristics. What's more designer-fied than that?

Orange: I've always been a sucker for orange: citrus, safety, clock-work. You name it- I like it. The runways brought us vibrant versions of all shades of orange.

Yellow: Yellow manages to go from traditional, one year, to supra-modern the next. The shades of yellow this year can only be described as modern. They seem more wrought from chemical than animal, vegetable, or mineral. I was skeptical, but seeing them in these fabric textures has won me over.

Blue: 3 versions, and all great. Sky blue, navy and aqua- mmmm...this year- they look great with nearly every pairing.

Earth Tones: I can't think of the last time I used the term "earth-tones". But Refinery 29 is right. These colors aren't really neutral tones. I would probably have referred to them as foundation colors- much like the tubes of color I would "borrow" from my mom's make-up drawer.

White: Many of you color-theorists will argue that white is not actually a color. I'll just say that it is and it isn't. So here are some of the arguments for and against!
