i love - LOVE - all of our artists and artisan studios celebrated on clé. their is no denying that every last one of them has a unique and utterly first class voice in the art and tile world. how pleased we are to be in there presence, let alone to work alongside them.
over the next many months we will be featuring the works from each of these world class citizens of creativity. for july, it's been all about the very first artist we ever spoke to about clé. my introduction to the works and personality of south africa's distinguished artist, ruan hoffmann, can be revisited here.
after working with ruan for these many months and having been acquainted with him for many more, i would have to say that i'm every bit as enamored of the skill, intellect and bold-faced antics he performs regularly with his double-taking ceramics. recently he's been busy (he is always busy) with new fellowships, new work, and a recent new solo exhibition.

i'll be catching up with ruan next week with some of my own provocative questions. we want to know what he's been up to and what to expect shortly from this artist and thinker of life on the world stage. ruan can always outdo the best of us inquisitors- he's foxy that way.
