Our tile bestie, Tracy, has popped back up on the Tile Envy radar after reading the Tileista's last guest post. We love hearing from Tracy- and it always blows me away how she is only ever a couple degrees of separation from the latest Tile Envy posts.
Here's her recent note-
Hey d,
JoAnn Locktov’s (AKA Tileista) post on Mark Bullwinkle was FUNK-tastic!! She referenced one of my all time fav funkster’s, Roy deForest, whose work I first saw at “The Candy Store Gallery” in Folsom in the early 70’s. In my google-ing, I came across this link:
I thought it ironic that the first image I found of his from a show at the Candy Store Gallery featured a light bulb like your latest post, “simple brilliance” which by the way is truly “brilliant”.
Who knew what a major impact a plastic bottle could have. Doesn’t it make you want to try it for yourself? If only I had the proper tools to cut through my metal roof- I’d do it in a heartbeat.
I hope all plastic bottle manufacturers (or water/soda companies) will use this an example of how to recycle their bottles. It’d make for great marketing too, not to mention good ‘karma’!
Anyways, the other connections to Bullwinkle= Roy deForest= The Candy Store Gallery= Dog Lamp= Clayton Bailey, who Roy collaborated with on the Dog lamps.
Clayton Bailey has an upcoming show at the Crocker Art Museum next month:
Check out Clayton’s wacky sense of humor:
