Just in case you think it's all sleepy, dreamy, holiday-land over at Tile Envy- hang on a minute! We've actually got some breaking news to dispatch to all of you just 3 days before Santa. I guess you could say this is an early Santa visit, in fact.
California artist, Ellen Blakely, occupies a realm of her own in our tile world. It's pretty amazing to be able to say that there isn't anyone else out there that does what Ellen does- namely making her artistic way with recycled glass- busted up bottles, bus stops, et al. Talk about a "green" dream-come-true! Her works are treasured installations that can be personalized, as well.
And this holiday season she launched a new series of colors she calls "Winter Whites" of which I'd like to claim were inspired by Tile Envy's holiday spree. But fact is, her new line is Ellen's response to wanting to see whites that are pure and snowy unlike the often celadon-hued glass that Ellen's been accustomed to using. Since seeing these lovely mosaics, I've been having visions of coordinating them with my 3 favorite white stones- Calacatta Oro, Carrara, and Thassos. If you have your heart set on using any of these stones for a project of your own- you simply must have a peek below to see an entirely new approach to coordinating Ellen's latest works with these emperors of the stone world.

Naturally, there will be a zillion other intriguingly inspired ways to use Ellen's latest and greatest- Winter Whites. We were very excited to "break" this artful news first - right here at White Christmas Tile Envy!
