White Christmas - 23, 2010

23 December 2010

Besides today marking the last week that all of you can send in your six-word memoirs for 2010, it's also Elbee's birthday! Happy Birthday, dear friend and Tile Envy enthusiast!! Elbee is the queen of the six-word memoir having authored one of our all time favorites-

"Tried everything twice, loved both times."

Still hoping to add more 2010 memoirs before we pick this year's winner!

And this holiday, one of Elbee's best bud's, Rachel, is down under having a very tropical - Xmas. Some of you might say that's not a very white intro, however, I think for the first time in eons (or ever?), Australia had snow this year during our winter and their summer!! We've certainly got to feature that for this week's White Christmas.

And along with all that talk of Australia, today's post is from Desire to Inspire featuring the home of Swedish designer Marie Olsson Nylander. So you may ask -what does any of that have to do with Australia besides the fact that half of Desire to Inspire is Australian??

I wish I could make sense of it so that my story was smoother and tethered to reality. But truth is, I took one look at Marie's remarkable family home- and could've sworn it was somewhere in the Outback! Not quite sure why- but decided to just go with it. What can I say? The minute I saw these photos- along with the white-washed interior architecture- it was the eclectic mix of exotic color, patterns and textures punctuating all those white surfaces that felt very creatively unconventional, much like my fondest memories of Aussie-land. I'd call it Outback Chic -

With only 2 days before Santa- I'm hoping you're all done with your shopping and ready to toast the holidays!
